Job summary

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office is seeking applicants for a School Resource Officer in the School Resources Division. The SRO serves as a liaison among school administrators, faculty, students and community programs, building relationships and maintaining visibility to deter misconduct on campus.

Responsibilities include document gathering, certifications, punctual attendance, training, and applying sound judgment in line with department policies.

Qualifications

Job description

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking applicants for the School Resource Officer position in the School Resources Division. A School Resource Officer acts as a liaison between school administrators, faculty, and students with social agencies and programs available within the community. An officer serving in the role of a SRO is expected to build and maintain relationships with students, school personnel, parents, co-workers and their immediate supervisors. In this role, a School Resource Officer must provide a high level of visibility and maintain a proactive approach to deterring criminal behavior on school property. This position also requires good judgement and excellent communication skills.

Work Schedule

This is an FLSA non-exempt, position. Work is generally completed on a regularly scheduled basis; the normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience with duties closely related to the School Resource Officer position, already certified as a SRO or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Associates or Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field.

Computer Skills

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience)

Special Criteria

Candidate must successfully complete 40 hours of SRO Training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position will be located within the School Resource Division at the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, Graham, NC. The position does require work within a North Carolina Public School and daily interaction with supervisors, the general public, school personnel and all members of the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.
