Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated RN or LPN to serve as a float building nurse across 28 schools near Gurnee, IL. You will deliver direct nursing care, triage health concerns, and support students with chronic illnesses in a collaborative educational setting.

This temporary, full-time assignment runs for about three months. You’ll work across elementary to junior high sites with strong teamwork and clear communication with parents and school staff.

Qualifications

• Current IL licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• School nursing experience is highly desirable.
• Strong assessment and clinical skills with experience in diabetic care, G-tube feeding, catheter care, and medication administration.
• Ability to work confidently across multiple school sites.
• Availability for a full-time schedule (elementary: 8:15-3:15, junior high: 7:30-2:30).
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and triage for 400-800 students as a float nurse across health offices.
• Support students with chronic illnesses and special needs, including medication administration and procedures such as diabetic care and G-tube/catheter maintenance.
• Respond promptly to health-related emergencies and coordinate with school staff to ensure students' well-being.
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and healthcare providers as needed.
• Maintain thorough documentation and uphold best nursing practices in accordance with IL state guidelines.
