Job Description

SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, evaluates students and determines the level of necessary services. Develops and implements a therapy protocol to habilitate or rehabilitate the specific needs of the student.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides consultation to students, teachers and other school personnel and parentsregarding students’ academics, social/emotional, or behavior.
• Administers individual and group assessments to students.
• Analyzes & interprets the results of individual, class, school and District assessments.
• Conducts record reviews.
• Collaborates with site special education & general education teams to make decisions.
• Serves as a resource to committees, school administrators and school personnelsurrounding issues and events that would benefit from the specific skill set of a schoolpsychologist.
• Serves as a liaison between students, parents, school staff and community agenciessurrounding issues and events that would benefit from the specific skill set of a schoolpsychologist.
• Prepares documentation that complies with Arizona Department of Education (ADE) requirements.
• Bills Medicaid for speech therapy services provided.
• Conducts site-based educational research, as assigned.
• Maintains accurate and confidential records of students.
• Participates in trainings, conferences, meetings, workshops and other professionaldevelopment activities, as required or as assigned.
• Provides professional development opportunities to staff as required or as assigned.
• Supervises psychology interns and Student Services paraprofessionals in cooperation with the Principal.

• Completes other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Master’s Degree in School Psychology; AND three (3) years of experience in a public school setting; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Arizona Department of Education School Psychologist Certificate
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Arizona Psychologist License.

Required Knowledge of

• Principles and practices of school psychology.
• Federal and state laws affecting special education services and disability issues.
• Governing Board, District and Department policies and procedures regarding identification, evaluation, placement, service structure and multi-disciplinary support.

Required Skills in

• Working with a diverse student and staff population.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
• Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
• Developing and administering therapy goals and programs.
• Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.
• Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
