Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a School Psychologist, Exempt, to support students through testing, comprehensive evaluations and behavioral interventions within the district.

The position requires a master's degree and valid South Carolina school psychologist certification, plus three or more years in public education. You will conduct assessments, counseling and consultations while maintaining detailed case records and collaborating with teachers and families.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in a relevant field.
  • SC school psychologist certification or eligibility.
  • Three or more years in public education.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses difficulties of referred students through testing and diagnostic practices.
  • Maintains case records on all referred students.
  • Conducts individual, group and/or facilitative therapy for students.
  • Confers with teachers and parents as needed.
  • Consults on special educational needs of slow-learning and exceptional children.
  • Attends staffing on placement of individual students.
  • Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors.
  • Interprets school psychological services for administrators, teachers, parents and agencies.
  • Cooperates with community health and social welfare agencies.
  • Attends staff, professional and inter-agency meetings.
  • Assists with in-service training of school personnel
  • Conducts appropriate research.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
