Job summary

Los Alamos Public Schools seeks a School Psychologist to provide psychological evaluations and related services to identified students under IEPs. The role includes scheduling evaluations, consultation, and supporting caseload needs within Student Services.

You will attend IEP team meetings, collaborate with staff and families, prepare progress reports, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. This 1.0 FTE position runs Aug 3, 2026 to May 28, 2027.

Qualifications

1.00 FTE- 8 hour shift, 40 hour week

191 work contract- August 3, 2026 to May 28, 2027

SUMMARY: Psychological evaluations and services to identified students as specified through the referral process or by their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The psychologist will be responsible for scheduling evaluations, consultation and services for assigned students' caseload and will be available to attend or provide written input to IEP team meeting as requested.

Essential Duties
  1. Psychological screenings and evaluations, including functional behavior assessments, will be provided to establish the need for educational interventions (at the request of the Coordinator of Student Services or designee).
  2. Written report of evaluations/screenings/FABAs submitted to Coordinator of Student Services within two weeks of the assessment date.
  3. Be available as a resource to school staff and the Student Assistance Team (SAT) to provide behavioral consultation and support for interventions for students who exhibit behavior/social/emotional needs that are impacting school performance.
  4. Review of existing student records for identified students.
  5. Participate in staff meetings with members of the District Social Behavioral Support Team.
  6. Conferences with parents and staff.
  7. Preparation of proposed social behavioral support goals for IEPs and implementation of those goals accepted by the IEP team.
  8. Interim reports of progress toward IEP goals and objectives and annual performance summaries describing the student’s present level of performance and recommendations to the IEP team.
  9. Maintain annual log of services performed which may be requested at any time by the Coordinator of Student Services for audit purposes.
  10. Based on student need, the following services may also be required:
    1. Inservice for staff and parents
    2. Development of a home program
  11. Follow all state and federal regulations regarding the delivery of special education and related services in New Mexico schools.
  12. Follow all district policies and rules while delivering services within the school setting (including documentation of criminal background check).
Qualifications/Licensure
  • NMPED License as a School Psychologist
  • Ability to create an effective working relationship with school personnel
  • High degree of knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to special educational programs
  • Ability to work with changing priorities, regulations and deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate details with others.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and to recommend necessary action
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
