Note: This is a long-term substitute position. All substitute teachers are hired as per diem substitutes, even for long-term assignments. All substitutes start at the per diem rate of pay.

General Information

Boston Public Schools seeks a School Psychologist to provide psychological services to students from pre-school through 22 years old attending various schools in Boston. Services include diagnostic, prescriptive, and remedial services, delivered individually, in groups, or through consultation.

Reports To

Assistant Director of Psychological Services

Responsibilities

1. Provide timely psychological and educational evaluations for students in Boston.
2. Participate in Individualized Educational Planning Meetings to develop comprehensive educational plans.
3. Consult with teachers and professionals to support student potential in least restrictive environments.
4. Conduct classroom screenings to aid in educational planning.
5. Offer prevention and counseling services individually and in small groups.
6. Participate in crisis response and intervention as needed.
7. Collaborate with the Office of Special Education and Student Services teams.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

Qualifications Required

1. Licensed as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
2. Competency in administering and interpreting standardized instruments.
3. Ability to produce comprehensive, computer-generated reports in English.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in urban educational settings.
2. Licensed Educational Psychologist.
3. Fluency in one of BPS's official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
4. Certification in subject area and additional areas like Moderate Disabilities or ESL preferred for core content teachers.
