Overview

Desert Choice Schools is looking for a School Psychologist for our location in Queen Creek and San Tan Valley, AZ. The position is full-time.

We are offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Travel between campuses might be needed. Mileage is paid. You need to have a School Psychologist License or LCSW/LMFT/LPC to qualify for this position.

Desert Choice Schools, a Learn It Family of Companies division, is a certified K-12 Private Day School approved by the Arizona Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for various disability categories: Autism (A), Emotional Disability (ED), Mild Intellectual Disability (MIID), Moderate Intellectual Disability (MOID), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Speech-Language Impairment (SLI).

Desert Choice Schools utilizes a highly-structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students academic, social/emotional problem-solving, and strategies. All DCS teachers and support staff are trained in a unique methodology that assists students in maintaining Positive Choice-Making. Responsibilities

The School Psychologist will be part of a team that works with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs providing counseling, training, clinical case management, therapeutic interventions, de-escalation, pre-crisis and post-crisis interventions, as well as special education case management. This position is supported by a day school program that provides special education teachers and one to three behavior technicians who assist in overseeing classroom management, behavior documentation and reporting, and implementing social/emotional/behavioral interventions. The School Psychologist will assist in special education case management, IEP and MET input, attend IEP and MET meetings, develop, collaborate, and implement interventions for students, provide counseling per students' IEPs, conduct parent training, and assist parents in accessing outside resources for their child. Other responsibilities include maintenance of appropriate documentation and record-keeping.

Qualifications
  • Valid School Psychologist/LCSW/LMFT/Counselor Licensure by AZ state
  • Experience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students
  • PCMA certification is a plus but not required; we can provide PCMA training for you.
  • Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors
  • Maintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize certain student behaviors or mannerisms
  • Ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds)
