Qualifications

• Master's degree with emphasis in School Psychology.
• Valid Alabama Certificate to practice as a School Psychologist.
• Nationally Certified School Psychologist preferred.
• Three years experience, preferred.
• Alternatives to qualifications as the Board may approve.

Responsibilities

• Administers intelligence, achievement, perceptual and motor tests and functional behavior assessments.
• Evaluate and interpret testing; suggest placements for appropriate special education program.
• Interpret findings to parents; counsel on student potential and achievement; suggest help sources.
• Consult with teachers, administrators and other staff on test findings.
• Coordinate with other agencies regarding individual cases.
• Prepare complete reports and files for each student tested; write behavioral intervention plans as needed.
• Review IEP components with teachers and admin; compile eligibility and IEP data.
• Consult with SST teams, ISS staff and other schools for students with behavior problems.
• Provide teacher training on classroom management and social skills.
