Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools are seeking a school psychologist to provide a broad range of services, including cognitive and achievement assessments, consultation with families and staff, and counseling for students.

The role requires Virginia licensure in school psychology and knowledge of IDEA and state/federal eligibility criteria, with strong communication and leadership skills to support students, families, and educators.

Qualifications

• Strong oral and written communication abilities and productive time management skills.
• Leadership qualities and personal characteristics to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues.
• Bilingual Spanish is highly desirable but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and state regulations governing special education.
• Knowledge of tests and measurement, including standardization procedures and scores.
• Ability to plan and prioritize work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates students for initial and triennial evaluations using multiple assessment methods.
• Participates in the eligibility process and determines appropriate educational services.
• Explains educational implications of assessment results to staff, parents, and teachers.
• Assists in developing goals, strategies, and outcome measures for students with disabilities.
• Participates in FBA/BIP processes to address challenging behaviors.
• Provides counseling and consultation to promote student social, emotional, and academic growth.
• Coordinates with health and welfare services for students in need.
• Offers training to teachers and staff on learning and adjustment strategies.
• Keeps up with best practices in school psychology through professional development.
