Job summary

Solterra Academy in Connecticut seeks a School Psychologist to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. You will conduct psychological assessments, provide individual therapy, and deliver crisis intervention while collaborating with teachers, families, and other professionals.

Qualifications

  • Hold a 6th Year Degree in School Psychology and CT SDE certification (070).
  • Minimum of one year of experience with children with challenging behaviors.
  • Proficiency with cognitive assessments, behavior rating scales, and adaptive scales.
  • Training in administering and scoring projective measures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide range of clinical services including individual therapy, crisis intervention, and family education.
  • Engage in crisis intervention, classroom consultation, and creation of individualized behavior plans.
  • Administer, score, interpret, and write formal integrated psychological evaluations for students ages 5-22.
  • Determine eligibility for special education services based on assessment results.
  • Present assessment outcomes at PPT meetings with parents/guardians and school staff.
  • Attend feedback meetings with school staff and with families to address questions or concerns.

Job description

Are you a School Psychologist in a public school with too high of a case load and too many evaluations to complete to provide a high level of counseling services? Are you looking for a work setting where you can make a difference and collaborate with other psychologists?

At Solterra Academy, you will have the opportunity to join our clinical team made up of Psychologists and social workers. Our multidisciplinary approach means you will work closely with occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, physical therapists, our BCBA, and psychiatrist, as well as teachers, classroom support staff, nurses, and others. Our small case load will allow you to provide in-depth counseling and crisis support services to your students while handling a manageable number of triennial evaluations.

As a School Psychologist in our setting, you will provide a comprehensive range of clinical and consultative services to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, providing individual therapy and crisis intervention, consulting with classroom teams, developing individualized behavior intervention plans, coordinating care with families and community providers, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure students receive comprehensive, individualized support.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (In Office)

Starting Salary

$80,000+ plus $3,000 Sign On Bonus Available

Responsibilities
  • Provide a wide range of clinical services to students and their families, including individual therapy, family counseling, and parent education and support.
  • Engage in crisis intervention, classroom consultation, and the creation of individualized behavior plans.
  • Administer, score, interpret, and write formal integrated psychological evaluations for students aged 5-22.
  • Determine student eligibility or continued eligibility for special education services based on assessment results.
  • Present assessment outcomes in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings to the student's treatment team, parents/guardians, and the local educational agency.
  • Participate in feedback meetings with?school?staff, as well as meetings with parents and guardians to address questions or concerns.

Requirements
  • 6th Year Degree in School Psychology
  • School Psychology Certification through the CT SDE (070)
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children with challenging behaviors
  • Demonstrated proficiency in various assessment instruments, including cognitive assessments, behavior rating scales, and adaptive rating scales required
  • Training in administering and scoring of projective measures preferred
