Job summary

Donegal School District is looking for a qualified School Psychologist to perform psycho-educational assessments and serve as a consultant. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate children's intellectual and academic functioning.

  • Assist in the education of staff regarding services to exceptional students.
  • Participate in interviewing new personnel.
  • Develop budget for psychologist division.
  • Supervise psychologist interns.
  • Serve on IST teams.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work relationship with staff.

Summary of Purpose

The function of the position is to perform psycho-educational tasks as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education and Alternative Education Programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following duties:

Essential Functions
  • Evaluates individual children’s levels of intellectual and academic functioning, social, and affective development and report on the major findings and recommendations.
  • Serves as consultant and makes recommendations to parents, teachers, and administrators regarding the psychological and education needs of individual students.
  • Meets with parents of children evaluated, where deemed advisable to do so, to communicate the results of psycho-educational assessment.
  • Serves as liaison between the district, I.U. 13, and other outside agencies as necessary.
  • Provides leadership with curriculum for exceptional children by careful review of planned courses grade by grade and by recommending revision of such.
  • Assists in providing ongoing education to administration and faculty with regard to the provision of services to exceptional students.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of new personnel for his/her division.
  • Develops budget for psychologist division.
  • Supervises psychologist interns.
  • Serves as member of IST teams.
  • Performs other job-related duties as appropriate.
  • Maintains an optimum relationship with other staff members by being courteous and always mindful of the importance of confidentiality.
Marginal Functions

Marginal functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular position function for which the person is responsible.

Scope and Impact

This position accomplishes most of its tasks through highly complex and diversified operating procedures exercising a great deal of judgment when necessary. Internal contacts include the Board, administrators, teachers, other school district employees, and students. The external contacts include parents, outside organizations, agencies, community groups and local and state regulatory agencies and offices.

Minimum Requirements

This position requires school psychologist certification.
