Job description

The role of a School Psychologist is critical in fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of students within educational environments. This position is designed for individuals who have a strong commitment to promoting positive student outcomes, ensuring equitable educational opportunities, and supporting the well-being of students, families, and educational staff. As a School Psychologist, you will serve as a key member of the educational team, collaborating with educators, administrators, and families to help all students succeed.

Within this full-time opportunity, the School Psychologist will provide vital psychological services such as conducting comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, supporting students through direct and indirect interventions, and contributing expertise to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs). Your role will also involve consultation with teachers, staff, and families to address learning, behavioral, and mental health needs of students. Working in a school district in the Jackson area, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the local educational community by helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The School Psychologist will manage a range of responsibilities that include conducting and interpreting psychological assessments, providing recommendations for educational programming, and assisting with eligibility determinations for special education services. You will play an active part in IEP meetings, help develop and implement targeted intervention strategies, and support staff with behavioral and academic consultation. Your expertise will guide the creation of safe, supportive, and effective learning environments for diverse student populations.

Collaboration is at the heart of the School Psychologist role. You will work closely with educators, administrators, support staff, and families to identify student needs and develop strategies that promote student achievement. Through ongoing communication and teamwork, you will help build a supportive network that empowers students and enhances school-wide outcomes. Adhering to district, state, and federal guidelines, you will maintain thorough and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and services provided.

Candidates for the School Psychologist position should possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology, a valid Georgia School Psychologist certification or licensure, and a solid understanding of special education laws and evaluation procedures. Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role. While previous school-based experience is preferred, a dedication to ongoing professional growth and a passion for supporting students are equally valued.
