Position Summary: New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) is the largest school system in the nation, with nearly 1 million students, approximately 135,000 employees (including almost 80,000 teachers). The Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) is responsible for the overall technology for the NYCPS. DIIT maintains a blend of central, schools and public-facing web applications and databases, with more than 1 million endpoints for students, faculty and administrative staff.
The School Partnerships Program Coordinator is a support role reporting to the office of the NYCPS’s Deputy CIO for School Partnerships, Modernization and Planning (SPMP). DIIT’s SPMP team ensures that all schools and districts have the critical resources and support needed to provide the best possible services to students and families. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, strong technical background, and familiarity with traditional and emerging technologies and practices. The activities of this role will be split between day-to-day operations and working on new and existing projects. The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and interact effectively with IT, Security, and Business leaders as well as school and district support staff.
The School Partnerships Program Coordinator will support a range of projects focused on supporting technology in schools. The School Partnerships Program Coordinator will support the development of learning communities to communicate and share best practices around technology. Performs related work.
Reports To: Deputy CIO for Schools, Planning, Modernization and Partnerships
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Works collaboratively with other DIIT units and NYCPS departments, community-based stakeholders including school principals, students, schools technical staff, school administration.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for community-based stakeholders including school principals, students, schools’ technical staff, school administration.
- Serves as a link between technology and education, ensuring that both staff and students have the necessary tools and resources.
- Assists with providing input on school support-focused activities and related documentation (e.g., device life-cycle support plans, technology/computer room plans, standard operating procedures, training materials, etc.).
- Oversees the implementation and management of technology systems and resources.
- Liaises with stakeholders to assist with the assessment of school technology needs.
- Assists in integrating new technology and navigating software applications, as well as resolving hardware issues using various tools to ensure that educational technology functions efficiently.
- Creates support and training materials for schools and districts focused on various technology applications.
- Provides technical support for family-facing tools and applications including Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems.
- Serves as key liaison for Pivot to Remote family planning.
- Coordinates focus groups for the design and development of new enterprise applications, integrations, and other related workflows.
- Coordinates the deployment, training, and troubleshooting of new DIIT applications and family-facing systems in schools, ensuring compliance with data policies and enhancing the feedback loop between DIIT and schools.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred
- BS, BA, MA or MBA degree preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong computer, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Understanding or willing to learn networking and internet technologies.
- Excellent end user support skills.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
Salary: $82,000 - $94,279.00
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
