Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Willingness to accept direction and cooperate with all staff.
• Prior experience with working with children in a school or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to use good judgment and exercise tact and diplomacy; respect confidentiality; sensitivity to and respect of problems of children.
• Computer literate and able to learn/use assistive technology.
• Such alternatives to above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a certified teacher, prepare for classroom events and activities.
• Assist the teacher with implementing strategies and interventions based on individual student needs.
• Provide positive role models and treat students with respect.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and colleagues.
• Assist in teaching processes and work directly with children to support academics, social skills, ADL’s and vocational tasks.
• Assist with ABA strategies and behavioral interventions as directed.
