Job summary

Barnegat Public School District seeks a Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant to support students and educators across multiple Barnegat district sites. The role offers varied hours with direct classroom assistance, supervision, and activities aligned to instructional goals.

Required: high school diploma, 60+ college credits or Praxis Parapro preferred, basic computer skills, and strong communication with students and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 60+ college credits and/or Praxis Parapro preferred.
• Experience with children in a school setting preferred.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and email.
• Good interpersonal skills with children and adults.
• Ability to pass criminal history check and show US citizenship or legal resident status.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned students with physical tasks and toileting when necessary.
• Perform errands for students, such as sharpening pencils and carrying trays.
• Collaborate with the teacher to reach instructional goals and milestones.
• Under teacher supervision, reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Accompany students between classes around the building.
• Support students in achieving academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Establish a professional relationship with students and maintain punctuality.
• Assist students with physical limitations or wheelchair needs as appropriate.
• Meet students at bus and help them board safely at day end.
• Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor or designee.
