Job summary

Woodland Park School District RE-2 is seeking an individual to provide support to their Program for Students with Visual Impairment. Responsibilities include reinforcing skills with visually impaired students, creating braille materials, and learning Braille. This position requires a high school diploma and experience with children is preferred. The role offers 37.5 hours weekly at a rate of $16.89 per hour with benefits including medical and dental coverage.

Job description

Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing support to the District's Program for Students with Visual Impairment, including students who are visually impaired and teachers certifited to work with students with visual imppairments (TVI).

Primary Responsibilities (To Be Acquired Within a Reasonable Timefreame)
  • Reinforces skills through activities with students who have visual impairments in classrooms, one-to-one, and/or small groups under the directionn and supervision of a TVI.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge and skill of human guide and instructional technolory/tools used by students with visual impairment, indluding low vision devices, abacus, screen readers, tec.
  • Interlines basic lieteracy materials for students with visual impairments.
  • Enlarges print materials under the direction of a certified teacher or students with visual impairments. Binds material using various methods.
  • Creates simple tactile images for cummunication systems, early literacy books, tec. using various tools, materials and machines.
  • Produces simple materials in braille for classroom use such as labels.
  • Orders special materials for use with students who are visually impaired. Arranges equipment repair
  • Clerical duties, as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, requeisted or needed.

Salary
  • Compensation (based 100% FTE): $16.89/hr (Minimum)
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 37.5
  • Hours per Day: 7.5 hours
  • Number of Days per Year: 185 (includes paid holidays)
