Job summary

Essex Regional Educational Services Commission is seeking a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in New Jersey for a part-time, 10-month position. The role requires collaboration with the OT and school team to promote student independence and participate in therapy activities.

The position involves data collection, implementing goals, and coordinating with families. It offers a $55/hour rate and up to 28.75 hours per week, with PTO (Sick) benefits and equal opportunity

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Licensure as a COTA.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
• Ability to physically move about the building.
• Ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds).
• Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision in accordance with procedures.
• Must pass CHRU background check.
• Proof of TB screening.

Responsibilities

• Promotes independence in activities of daily living through problem solving and adaptations.
• Observes and suggests positioning techniques to enhance participation and function.
• Collaborates with classroom staff at team meetings when requested.
• Exchanges information about students with the occupational therapist.
• Utilizes task analysis for feeding and school-related skills.
• Implements OT-prescribed programs based on goals and objectives.
• Collaborates with colleagues and parents to plan and implement effective student programs.
• Collects and maintains data on student goals to evaluate progress.
• Assists therapist in formulating new goals based on data analysis.
