Job summary

ACCEL Schools in Washington is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the local operations team for a state-wide online K-12 program. You will develop and implement procedures, ensure compliance with sponsor and state laws, manage student data, and support leadership with day-to-day operations.

You will collaborate with the broader ACCEL network to optimize workflows and oversee vendor coordination while maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
  • Experience managing school compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience working in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee student records, local/state testing, attendance and truancy tracking, and facilities management.
  • Provide resolution for escalated needs across procedures, technology, and materials.
  • Liaise between school team and Accel to align school-level procedures with the larger organization.
  • Serve as a member of the school leadership team.
  • Develop, document, and archive operational workflows to support policies.
  • Audit current procedures and identify opportunities to streamline and improve.
  • Stay up to date on Department of Education and sponsor policies and state laws.
  • Manage all student information per state and federal law.
  • Coordinate communication with external vendors as needed.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

About the Team

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Washington is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in the state of Washington. At VPA Washington, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.

The Operations Manager at Virtual Prep Academy of Washington supervises all school operations team members and collaborates with all members of the VPA Washington leadership team to design and implement process and procedures across all aspect of daily school operations for a state-wide online school, in compliance with all sponsor and board of education regulations and state laws.

About the Opportunity
  • Through supervision of the local operations team members oversee the following school functions: student records, local and state testing, attendance and truancy tracking and follow-up, office and facilities management
  • Act as a resource for internal (staff) and external (students and families) stakeholders by providing resolution and management of escalated needs across a variety of topics (school procedures, technology systems, materials, etc)
  • Act as a liaison between school team members and members of the larger Accel team to identify operational needs and develop school level procedures that align with the goals and procedures of the larger Accel organization.
  • Serve as a member of the school leadership team
  • Work collaboratively with other school administrators to develop, document, and electronically archive operational procedures and workflows to support implementation of school policies
  • Audit current procedures and identify opportunities to streamline and improve
  • Stay up to date on department of education and sponsor policies and compliance items and state educational laws
  • Manage all student information per state and federal law
  • Coordinates communication with external vendors as needed
  • Performs all other job duties as assigned.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Masters Degree Preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products
  • Strong spreadsheet skills including the ability to use basic and intermediate formulas and functions
  • Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
  • Prior experience managing law and regulation compliance
  • Prior experience creating and documenting procedures and workflows
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic.
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated

The annual starting salary for this position is between $65,000 – $75,000annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
