Job summary

Greater Atlanta Christian School in Atlanta, GA is seeking a part-time Music Teacher to deliver engaging music theory instruction and provide one-on-one piano lessons. You will tailor lessons to each student’s level, help them prepare for recitals, auditions, and exams, and update attendance and progress records.

The role requires a Bachelor's in music (Master's preferred), and several years of playing and teaching experience, plus a strong classical background and clear communication with

• Bachelor's degree in music from an accredited college/university; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 1+ years experience teaching musical instrument performance; equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Must be a fluent player of the specified instrument to be taught.
• Experience teaching students with diverse abilities in a private setting.
• Strong classical background.
• Minimum 5 years playing as a musician and 1+ year teaching the instrument.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Teach music theory concepts effectively to students
• Provide 1 on 1 piano lessons, tailored to a student's individual skill level and goals, focusing on technique, repertoire, and music theory to foster comprehensive musical development.
• Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, or examinations as needed.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans and curriculum based on student progress and learning styles.
• Maintain accurate attendance and progress records for each student.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in music from accredited college/university; Master's degree is a plus.
• One or more years experience in teaching musical instrument performance for specific instrument or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a fluent player of the specific musical instrument which will be taught.
• Should be experienced in teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting.
• Should have a strong classical background.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years playing as a musician and one (1) or more years as a teacher for the specific instrument.

Knowledge, Skills, & Capabilities

• Upbeat, positive attitude with good communication and observational skills.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing using English; bilingual skills are a plus
• Must have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to the primary instrument.
• Effectively manage time and have excellent organizational skills to keep students on task.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents of young students.

Physical Requirements

• Physical abilities: Ability to sit/stand for periods of time with good hearing and eyesight.

Pre-employment Requirements

• Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance.
