Job summary

Henry Co Public School District District Wide in New Castle, Kentucky is seeking a Substitute School Nutrition Assistant. This part-time position supports school meals programs, food preparation, and service in assigned sites under the guidance of the School Nutrition Cafeteria Manager.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent and can follow health and sanitation rules, lift and stand for long periods, and work with others to prepare nutritious meals for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Basic math and cashiering skills required.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Read and write at a level required for successful job performance.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and train/lead others when needed.
• Must be able to lift, bend, reach and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and bakes rolls, biscuits, breads, cakes and other baked goods.
• Cooks meat dishes, vegetables and other main dishes; prepares salads and sandwiches.
• Assists in determining quantities and adjusts recipes to meet needs.
• Monitors food temperatures to ensure safety and quality standards.
• Serves food according to guidelines and replenishes serving containers.
• Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment and storage areas; follows sanitation procedures.
• Records amounts of food sold and monies collected; assists with inventory.
• Operates standard kitchen equipment and cash register as required.
• Performs additional tasks as assigned by the School Nutrition Cafeteria Manager.
