Job summary

School Board of Highlands County in Sebring, FL, is seeking a Site Assistant in the Food & Nutrition Services program to support daily operations, maintain safety standards, and assist with inventory and food preparation.

The role reports to the Food & Nutrition Manager, operates the point of sale system, trains staff, and ensures timely production and service for meals. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and two years' related experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in school nutrition or SBHC Food & Nutrition programs.
• Ability to operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to sanitation and safety protocols.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible to the Food & Nutrition Manager for completing duties to standard.
• Maintain sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
• Assist with food service operations during emergencies or peak times.
• Interact courteously with the public and coordinate with staff.
• Prepare, portion, and store food according to recipes and menus.
• Operate the point of sale system and assist with ordering/inventory.
