Qualifications

• This position requires knowledge of basic kitchen and food serving utensils and equipment; basic methods of food preparation; basic cleaning methods and procedures.
• Must possess the skill to effectively apply proper sanitation and safety requirements associated with food preparation and serving operations; understand and follow oral and written instructions; learn to operate assigned nutrition services appliances and equipment in a safe manner; read at a level sufficient to perform assigned duties; perform routine mathematical calculations accurately; meet the physical requirements necessary to safely perform the duties of the position; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
• No experience is required, although some experience in food preparation and service would be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision will assist in the preparation and serving of food items in a school cafeteria or central kitchen facility and maintain nutrition services equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
