Job summary

Kern High School District is seeking an entry-level Nutrition Services assistant to help with the preparation and serving of food in a school cafeteria or central kitchen facility. The role focuses on basic food preparation, sanitation and safety, equipment operation, following instructions, and performing routine math calculations as needed.

Starting salary is $1,055.93 per month for a 9.5-month period with daily hours from 10:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of kitchen and serving utensils and equipment and safe handling procedures.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions and perform routine math calculations.
• No prior experience required, some exposure to food prep is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assist in preparation and serving of food in a school cafeteria or central kitchen.
• Maintain nutrition services equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
• Perform entry-level, routine food preparation and related manual tasks.
