Job summary

The Oklahoma Military Department is seeking an Assistant Food Service Manager II to support daily food service operations for the Sooner Job Challenge. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating purchasing, and ensuring compliance with USDA School Meals programs.

You will help prepare menus, manage inventory, and maintain records while adhering to safety and sanitation standards. A valid driver’s license is required, and the facility operates year-round with shift work.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in culinary arts, food management or a similar field required.
• One year of supervisory experience or supervising inmates in a food service setting; extra year for each year of education if needed.
• Experience with youth programs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Food Service Manager in coordinating purchasing, planning, preparation, serving and inventory control.
• Supervise staff and prepare work schedules.
• Maintain food production records per state guidelines and USDA school meal programs.
• Review menus and recipes; ensure proper portions and modified diets as required.
• Propose updates to SOPs; report issues to supervisor.
• Lead staff meetings and provide required training for nutrition employees.
• May supervise students in dining facility support roles.
