Job summary

MISSISSINEWA COMMUNITY SCHOOLS is seeking a Child Nutrition Staff member to ensure the quality and quantity of food served to students and staff. The role involves following federal and state regulations for school lunch and breakfast programs, preparing a variety of foods, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

You will be setting up serving areas, portioning meals, replenishing items, recording temperatures and production data, and operating kitchen equipment as required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Ability to get along with the public, employees and students.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all federal and state regulations for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
  • Prepares a variety of foods for meal and a la carte service.
  • Follows all federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Prepares items for special promotions, holidays and other celebrations.
  • Sets up food and supplies for serving in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Serves meals, meal components and a la carte items to students following designated portion sizes.
  • Supplies and replenishes food items for the serving line(s) as needed.
  • Store or dispose of excess food properly and according to food code.
  • Properly records data on temperature logs, production records and labels daily.
  • Correctly operates and cleans kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, mixers, serving lines, and dish machine.
  • Operates cash register and counts money daily if required.
