Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check required.
• At least one year of school food service experience.
• Completed four food service training units or willing to take them.
• Working knowledge of recipes and mathematics.
• Knowledge of quantity and quality food preparation.
• Willingness to take full responsibility for cooked/baked items.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent physical health; must be able to lift 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all menu items and baked products for each school day.
• Check menus, production records, plan schedules for menu items.
• Operate commercial equipment such as slicers, steamers, ovens, and mixers.
• Display knowledge of school food service requirements when serving food.
• Follow manager's instructions for preparation, cooking, portioning, and serving.
• Ensure sanitation, health, and safety standards per State Board of Health.
• Check storage areas for items needed for future menus and inform manager of purchases.
• Provide leadership in absence of the manager where no assistant manager is assigned.
• Have working knowledge of POS equipment.
• Perform ordering and back-office accounting in absence of the manager where no assistant manager is assigned.
• Participate in all cleaning duties.
• Promote goodwill among staff, faculty, and students.
• React productively to change and perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide official high school transcripts, updated resume, and three letters of recommendation.
• All employees must submit a criminal background check and tuberculosis test.
• Provide proper identification, eligibility documentation for U.S. employment, complete I-9, and Delaware Child Protection Registry paperwork.
