Job Goal
Assist in the preparation of food; prepare assigned food serving area and perform cashiering duties in the sale of food items to students and staff; maintain cleanliness of food service facilities.
Performance Responsibilities
Prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality and quantity of food prepared. Follow work schedules for each assignment.
Prepare food service facilities for the serving of food; assure that serving lines are properly stocked with adequate food, beverages and supplies; prepare the steam table for serving hot meals. Check temperatures to assure food is served correctly.
Heat, portion and serve food to students and staff according to established procedures and meal pattern requirements.
Count money and prepare cash drawers with appropriate amount and denominations of change.
Collect money for meals and ala carte sold and make appropriate change; complete the necessary computer process to maintain daily and monthly records of receipts and sales, prepare bank deposit slips.
Count and maintain inventory records and notify supervisor of needed food and supplies.
Maintain work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition; wash and clean counters and steam tables; wash and store equipment, pots pans, trays and other food service items.
Work after school events that require food preparation and/or service as needed.
Assist in storing unused food and supplies to assure compliance with health and sanitation standards; dispose of unusable leftovers and trash.
Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as computer, slicer, grater, mixer, fryer, steamer, combi ovens, pulpers, dishwasher, and ovens as required.
Works to maintain a friendly and courteous atmosphere with students, faculty, parents, and the public.
Reports accidents and potential safety hazards to the manager.
Participates in local school district inservice meetings and training programs for school food service.
Train new food service employees as assigned.
Know procedures for use and operation of fire extinguishers.
Practice good grooming habits and personal hygiene. Follow guidelines as to safety and sanitation.
