Job Description

JOB TITLE: School Nutrition Assistant Manager

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: School Nutrition Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The position is responsible for assisting the school nutrition manager in the coordination, supervision, and management of the school nutrition program and operation. The position works 181 days per year, coinciding with the school instructional calendar, and is scheduled for 6 hours per day with benefits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assumes responsibility for the operations of the school nutrition program in the absence of the manager.
  • Assists in regular inventories of food & supplies, helps with orders, and oversees maintenance of production records and completion of financial records as required by the director.
  • Plans daily work schedule with the School Nutrition Manager.
  • Supervises all production workstations and provides assistance as needed; will be "hands‑on" during production period of day.
  • Maintains all required records and files.
  • Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalency and 2-3 years of school nutrition experience or other management experience in the foodservice industry. Holds Certificate through the School Nutrition Association or is willing to earn a certificate within six months of hire.

Hearing and visual acuity are required for normal spoken word levels and operation of measuring devices and machines. The worker is subject to extreme heat, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
