Job summary

Dare County Schools seeks a part-time School Nutrition Assistant at Cape Hatteras Secondary School in Buxton, North Carolina. You will assist with the preparation, serving and storage of meals and maintain sanitation in food service areas.

You will follow recipes and portion controls, assist as cashier, uphold safety standards, attend trainings, and work as part of the school nutrition team under the supervision of the School Nutrition Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, menus, recipes and schedules.
• Ability to be trained and function as a cashier; counts money with others.
• Courteous and tactful with children and adults.
• Works cooperatively as a team member.
• Access to transportation to and from work.
• Knowledge of food preparation and safe handling.

Responsibilities

• Regular attendance; approved absences; avoid excessive absenteeism.
• Rotate through all School Nutrition functions.
• Perform moderate physical work and lift up to 30 pounds solo, 40–50 with help.
• Prepare and serve food following recipes and portion standards.
• Operate as cashier and handle funds with honesty.
• Maintain cleanliness; sanitize equipment and surfaces; proper storage.
• Follow health, safety and sanitation standards and temperature controls.
• Attend required trainings and work harmoniously with others.
