Job summary

RSU 34 in Old Town, ME is seeking a part-time Food Service Assistant to support the daily operation of the school nutrition program at Old Town High School.

The role requires dependable attendance, teamwork, and reliable service; duties include food prep, serving lines, safety, cleanliness, POS operation, and record-keeping, with benefits like clothing reimbursement, one free meal per day, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Food handler or ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, portioning, and meal service according to menus and recipes.
• Set up and maintain serving lines, stations, and dining areas.
• Follow food safety and sanitation practices, including handwashing and allergen awareness.
• Maintain production, temperature, cleaning and program records.
• Clean and sanitize food-contact surfaces, equipment, utensils, and dining areas.
• Operate kitchen and dishwashing equipment safely as trained.
• Receive, store, label, date, and rotate food and supplies.
• Work cooperatively with staff, students, and visitors.
• Attend required training and comply with district policies and directions.
• Operate the point of sale register and perform related duties.
