Job summary

District Wide in Rantoul, Illinois seeks a Substitute Nurse to support special education health services across the school day. The nurse must hold an Illinois Substitute license and current RN or LPN licensure, with the ability to follow health care plans and HIPAA/FERPA guidelines.

Typical duties include providing nursing care, maintaining health records, and supporting students during academic and activity periods. Strong mobility and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Illinois Substitute license as well as current RN or LPN license.
• Physically able to lift, transfer, and/or restrain students.
• Able to read and follow written instructions specific to the Individual Health Care Plans for students.
• HIPAA and FERPA regulations must be followed in schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing services within the scope of practice for an LPN as directed by physicians and health care plans.
• Maintain accurate health records for students across school day and travel.
• Implement and monitor health-related programs for special education students as instructed by teachers.
• Supervise students during activities and assist with mobility or positioning as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and report unsafe conditions to the principal promptly.
