Job summary

Community Independent School District on the Nevada, Texas campus seeks a Substitute School Nurse to provide on-site health services and promote student wellness. Immediate start available and duties include episodic care, screening coordination, and health education in collaboration with campus staff.

The ideal candidate is a Texas-licensed RN with BLS and experience in school or pediatric health; additional screenings and diabetes risk assessment credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Valid registered nurse license (RN) from Texas Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS certification.
• Texas Department of State Health Services certification for vision, hearing, spinal screenings (preferred).
• UT Pan American Border Health Office diabetes risk assessment certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with campus staff to ensure a healthy school environment and address health needs.
• Deliver health and social services to students and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain communicable disease prevention and comply with health regulations.
• Document health information per Texas Nurse Practice Act and district guidelines.
• Administer medications safely per district policies and state laws.
• Develop, implement and evaluate campus health education and programs.
