Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver, Washington, is seeking a School Nurse for the EPS Health Services division. This 1.0 FTE, continuing position supports students’ health needs across assigned schools, with immediate starting date and a comprehensive benefits package.

The nurse will develop and implement health plans, coordinate screenings, act as liaison with families and healthcare providers, and deliver health education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
• Washington RN license required.
• ESA Certification or eligibility for ESA Certification.
• Background check (state patrol) required, cost borne by employee.
• School nursing experience and/or background in pediatric health preferred.
• Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Experience working with diverse families and communities.
• Ability to learn and operate computers and software systems.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized health care plans and emergency action plans for students with acute and chronic conditions.
• Assess student health needs and provide consultative and referral services to staff, parents and students.
• Coordinate mandated screenings for assigned schools.
• Act as liaison between school personnel, family, community and health care providers.
• Coordinate administration and delegation of health services, including medications and health room duties.
• Provide first aid and CPR.
• Monitor communicable diseases and report to government agencies.
• Prepare health assessments and reports for special education and federally funded programs.
• Provide staff training and education.
• Promote health through classroom instruction.
