Job summary

Barnwell County School District is seeking a School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year at Williston-Elko Middle School/Williston-Elko High School. The nurse will provide health services, coordinate care plans, and ensure student wellness in a 185-day contract.

The role requires SC RN licensure, nursing program graduation, CPR/BLS certification, basic computer skills, and experience with Medicaid billing and health records. Immediate start date with open until filled.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted South Carolina Registered Nurse License.
• Graduate of a State-approved nursing program.
• Basic computer skills required; keyboarding proficiency.
• Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS, CPR Certified.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers first aid and care to ill or injured students and staff as per District Policies and Procedures.
• Documents nursing interventions and maintains up-to-date health records for all students.
• Provides required reports using District/State reporting systems.
• Identifies students with chronic illnesses and plans care with parents and providers.
• Prepares Individual Health Care Plans/Emergency Action Plans with signatures as needed.
• Monitors immunizations and completes required reports.
• Performs vision/hearing screenings and follow-up as recommended.
• Administers medications according to District/Nursing Board policies and guidelines.
• Completes medication administration training for field trips when RN is unavailable.
• Keeps Principal informed of health-related problems; coordinates with District Office.
• Reports outbreaks and adheres to Exclusion Laws; communicates with Principal.
• Completes Medicaid billing requirements and related paperwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned with health room first priority.
