Qualifications

• Valid Public Educator License (PEL) with a School Nurse endorsement registered in Region 07 - South Cook ISC4.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
• First Aid and CPR program completion.
• Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing screening technician.
• Computer literacy and competency in use of existing technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards and state policies.
• Administer medications with appropriate documentation.
• Maintains medical conditions records and related archival responsibilities.
• Performs mandated vision and hearing screenings as a credentialed screener.
• Acts as mandated reporter for suspected abuse/neglect and makes referrals as needed.
• Maintains communication with teachers, staff, and parents to support health needs.
• Provides health information and counseling to promote student wellness.
• Archives accident/incident reports and maintains health office data.
