Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Certified School Nurse to coordinate the school health program, supporting student health and wellness across district schools. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, you will provide direct nursing services, manage medications, and collaborate with staff to remove health barriers to learning.

This role requires a BSN, IL nursing license, Type 73 School Nurse endorsement, and CPR certification, with residency within Illinois preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Active Illinois Nursing license.
• Professional Educator License (Type 73) endorsed as a School Nurse.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide and/or delegate direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students.
• Identify health problems, make referrals, and document follow-up and evaluation.
• Counsel and follow-up with students with disabilities as delineated in IEP/504.
• Coordinate homebound health services as needed.
• Intervene in times of school crisis (death, suicide, traumatic events).
• Develop and participate in health education programs for students.
• Assist with health-related accommodations and IEP goals development.
• Develop medication protocol to safely store, administer, and monitor medications at school.
