Job Description

The primary responsibility of the nurse is to provide health services to students when they are in school. In this role, you will treat students and staff with multiple medical needs, including injuries, acute and chronic illnesses, during the school day and throughout the year.

Required skills include excellent organizational abilities and effective communication with children, parents or guardians, and teachers.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing basic healthcare to students in case of injury or illness
  • Dispensing medication as prescribed
  • Developing health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
  • Maintaining student health records, including vaccination records, in accordance with Maryland health regulations and the Catholic Schools Office
  • Educating students on healthy habits such as proper nutrition and hygiene
  • Distributing health information to the school community as needed
