Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a School Nurse (RN-LPN) to provide health services and support to students across the district. The nurse will work under direct supervision to minimize illness-related absences and promote a healthy school environment.

The role requires knowledge of state laws, pediatric health, and collaboration with school staff and families; nursing care will include medication administration and patient advocacy within the school setting.

Qualifications

• LPN license required in Georgia; CPR and First Aid certifications required or preferred.
• Experience in school health service delivery is beneficial.
• Strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs student health procedures and assists with medication administration.
• Maintains up-to-date health records for students.
• Observes students regularly to detect health needs and provides emergency care as needed.
• Advises on modifications to education plans to meet health needs.
• Reports health matters to parents, staff, and clinicians.
• Travels to classrooms with required equipment and attends classes and activities as needed.
• Prepares and submits reports to the lead nurse and principal.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
