Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks a registered nurse to lead the Life Academy Health Program across assigned schools. You will perform health screenings, document findings, and refer students to appropriate services, ensuring compliance with district regulations.

The role requires collaboration with principals, teachers, and community clinics, plus delivering first aid education and supporting health policies for student safety.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alabama.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and staff.
• Experience working with school-age children is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Life Academy health program in assigned schools.
• Schedule and conduct screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis.
• Document and refer students with deficiencies per regulations.
• Establish and maintain contact with community agencies and clinics.
• Learn and follow policies for health care of students.
• Investigate referrals and refer to appropriate agency; follow up as needed.
• Schedule home visits when appropriate.
• Collaborate with principals and teachers to plan first aid and safety education.
