Job summary

Portsmouth School Department seeks a School Nurse Teacher for Melville Elementary in Portsmouth, RI for a one-year assignment starting immediately. Under the building principal’s supervision, you will provide health services to students and integrate health concepts into classroom activities.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in education, RI School Nurse Teacher PK-12 certificate or eligibility, and an RI RN license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education.
• RI certificate: School Nurse Teacher PK-12 or eligibility; RI RN license.
• Clear Criminal Records Check per RI requirements.
• Ability to implement health and wellness services in school settings.

Responsibilities

• Implement health and wellness program for students.
• Serve as a resource to advisors and faculty.
• Collaborate with teachers on health and behavior issues.
• Coordinate with parents and staff on students with medical needs.
• Participate in RTI, IEP and 504 meetings.
• Counsel students regarding educational and health concerns.
