- Calendar: Certified Exempt, 187 workdays

- Performance Pay: Available annually
- New Hire Experience: $500 for each full-time year of certified teaching or verified experience
- New Hire Education: $65/hour of graduate level credits; BA +45 hours max, MA +60 hours max; $1000 for advanced degrees
Job Summary
The primary purpose of the school nurse is to enhance the educational process by improving students' health. The nurse performs functions requiring nursing judgment, initiative, and collaboration with health, education, and related professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan health programs in coordination with the administrator
- Conduct student health screenings
- Administer medications per district policies
- Coordinate health services with families and community providers
- Assist teachers with health curriculum and demonstrations
- Interpret and inform staff about health laws and trends
- Assess and care for ill or injured students and staff; develop nursing care plans
- Support parents with health referrals
- Gather developmental history and participate in Medicaid billing
- Provide health counseling and promote healthy practices
- Participate in district intervention teams and safety committees
- Maintain accurate health records and reports
- Supervise health assistants
- Implement communicable disease control and immunization policies
- Follow professional standards and guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
- Valid Arizona Registered Nurse License
- Experience in school or public health nursing
- Knowledge of health management, emergency response, and mental health support
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work mainly in a nurse’s office or health clinic
- Interact with students, staff, and community members
- Respond to emergencies; lift up to 50 lbs; move quickly across campus
