Job summary

The Festus School District is seeking applications for the 2026-27 School year a School Nurse. The position is located at Festus Elementary School and requires RN certification.

Rate of Pay starts at $44,151 annually ($33.37 per hour). Employment comprises 189 work days (7 hours per day, 8:00am–3:30pm) with benefits including retirement, health/dental insurance and 12 leave days per school year. Compliance with district health policies is required.

Qualifications

• Interested individuals must have attained appropriate certification as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

• Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
• Assumes responsibility for referral of students in need of medical and dental care.
• Administers medication and treatments prescribed by physician.
• Conducts health and vision screenings.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
• Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
• Provides care for a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness at school.
• Participates with school staff in developing and implementing total school health program.
• Advises school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in school.
• Authorizes and implements board policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious disease processes.
• Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health service and health curriculum as part of continuing education units.
• Collaborates with other professionals in planning to assure quality of health care provided to students.
• Assists students, families, and school personnel to achieve optimal levels of wellness through health education.

Rate of Pay

Rate of Pay: $44,151 minimum ($33.37 per hour). Pay rate dependent on prior experience. Benefits included: Retirement, Life/Health/Dental Insurance, and 12 leave days per school year

Employment: 189 work days (171 student days, 8 additional work days to be scheduled either before school starts or after students finish, 4 paid holidays & 6 days of summer school); 7 hours per day (8:00am – 3:30pm)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
