Edconic is seeking a School Nurse for its Pre-College program, a temporary live-in role supporting campers and staff with medical care, medication administration and recordkeeping.

The position runs May–July with a 40-hour work week, on-site housing and meals provided, plus a $12,000 stipend for the full summer ($3,000 per term).

Candidates must be a licensed RN or LPN, CPR certified, and able to supervise health logistics and coordinate with parents, counselors and administrators.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage medications and medical information.
• Strong communication with parents, counselors and health staff.

Position Description

The School Nurse is responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services. The care includes looking after ill or injured campers or staff, administering medication, communication with parents and counselors, and organization of medical information, medications and first-aid kits, as well as documenting all procedures in Student Information System.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

This is a temporary live-in-position with specific duties and responsibilities which include but are not limited to the list below:

• Assist in organization of health office.
• Making sure inventory of First-Aid kits is supplied and maintained.
• Keep a daily log of office visits.
• Administer over-the-counter drugs, when necessary
• Illness and injury management
• Communication with parents and counselors of illness and injury
• Be a medical resource that would bridge the gap between basic medical knowledge.
• and emergencies.
• Providing First Aid for:
• Cuts, scrapes and bruises
• Bee stings
• Dehydration and sunburn

Qualifications

The School Nurse will be an experienced professional with prior leadership experience and a minimum of 2 years of work in comparable positions. Prior work in a university program, boarding school, or camp is particularly desirable.

Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure

• Licenses as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in state of New York preferred.
• Experience working with children or youth
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to maintain and administer all medications.
• Ability to make decisions and take initiative under pressure.
• Must be CPR Certified

The School Nursewill be expected to work up to 40 hours a week and will be required to be on call and work weekends. Dates of commitment are below:

• Virtual Training: May 25th, 26thand May 27th
• Move-in: May 31st
• Term 2: June 20th- July 2nd
• Term 3: July 4th- July 16th
• Term 4: July 18th- July 30th
• Move-out: July 31st

Must be available to work for the entire duration of the program.
