Job summary

Thrive Therapies Group in Nashville, TN is seeking a School Nurse on a contract freelancer basis to support student health services in the district. The role offers compensation of $32 per hour and requires RN or LPN licensure and school-based experience.

You will provide daily health assessments, administer medications, manage chronic conditions, and collaborate with school staff to ensure students' health needs do not interrupt learning. Start Fall 2026 for the 2026–27 school year.

Qualifications

• Active RN or LPN licensure in good standing.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; school-based (K–12) experience preferred.
• TN RN or LPN license required; out-of-state applicants must initiate TN licensure transfer before start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily health assessments, first aid, and emergency care to students as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and school health protocols.
• Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions including asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and severe allergies.
• Conduct vision, hearing, and other required screenings per district and state requirements.
• Maintain confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
• Develop and update individualized health plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs) for students with complex health needs.
• Ensure compliance with all state school health regulations and district policies.
• Document all health visits, interventions, and communications with families and staff.
• Partner with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and special education staff to support students' health-related access to education.
• Communicate proactively with families regarding student health concerns, medication administration, and health plan updates.
• Participate in IEP and 504 meetings when student health needs are relevant to educational planning.
• Collaborate with Thrive clinical team leads and school partners to ensure continuity of care.

What You'll Do

Student Health Services

Qualifications

Required

• Active RN or LPN licensure in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; school-based (K–12) experience preferred
• Ability to pass a background check prior to employment
• Valid TN RN or LPN license required. Out-of-state applicants: proof of TN licensure transfer initiation required prior to start date.

Preferred

• Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric healthcare setting
• Familiarity with IEP and 504 accommodation processes as they relate to student health
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and school staff
