Job summary

Dodge County Schools is seeking a licensed School Nurse to support student health services across the district. The position is salaried, 180 days, 8 hours per day, reporting to the School Principal and assigned administrators.

Responsibilities include assessing and planning health interventions, coordinating care, maintaining health records, collaborating with families and agencies, and ensuring compliance with nurse practice acts and district policies.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities for students.
• Provides for the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of illness and injuries to remove health-related barriers to learning.
• Direct and indirect care to students per district policies, professional standards, physician orders, and Individual Health Plan.
• Follows the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and district policies and procedures; collaborates with child-support agencies in health program design.
• Maintains security of health supplies and serves as a health resource person.
• Screens and conducts health appraisals for students and staff; provides follow-up evaluations as required; recommends corrective action when needed.
• Conducts home visits when appropriate and communicates health needs to parents; records immunizations and health data.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal.

GOAL

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assumes responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention,
• evaluation, management, and referral activities for students at DCHS.
• Provides for the promotion and maintenance of health as well as the prevention of illness and injuries. This facilitates the removal of health-related barriers to learning and promoting an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
• Responsible for direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school district policies, professional standards of practice, physician's orders, and the Individual Health Plan.
• Functions in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the school district's policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with other child-support agencies in designing and providing a school health program.
• Maintains security of school health supplies.
• Serves as a resource person on health issues.
• Screens and conducts health appraisals for students and staff.
• Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required.
• Recommends corrective action where problems are identified.
• Conducts home visits when appropriate.
• Corresponds with parents on health needs of children and utilizes our Tele Med Program successfully.
• Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal.
• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Requires standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, simple grasping,
• pushing, pulling, fine motor and gross motor skills, bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching; ability to lift and transfer students as required; the stamina to stand all day as needed.
