School Nurse Position - Ansonia School District

The Ansonia (Connecticut) School District is seeking a full-time (35 hours per week) school nurse (RN) for Pre-K – 5th grade. The hourly rate is per contract. The position is anticipated to open soon.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor school health assessments and immunizations
• Conduct annual vision and hearing screenings
• Administer medication and provide emergency first aid care
• Develop Emergency Care Plans and Individualized Health Care Plans
• Provide counseling and health education to students and staff

Work Environment:

• Office environment, subject to constant interruptions
• Requires student contact at school sites
• Exposure to childhood ailments, diseases, and bodily fluids

Physical Requirements:

• Dexterity to operate medical equipment, computers, and office equipment
• Sitting or standing for extended periods and walking between locations
• Kneeling, bending, reaching horizontally and overhead
• Lifting objects up to 30 pounds
• Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively
• Assist students with physical difficulties if needed
• Respond promptly to emergency situations both inside and outside the building

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience with computerized documentation systems (preferred)
• Current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certification
• Current CT Registered Nurse license
• At least one year of full-time RN experience within the last five years
• Strong communication skills
