Job summary

Dwight School in New York is seeking a part-time or full-time Custodian (Maintenance Worker) to keep our facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for students and staff. You will report to the facilities supervisor, follow a written schedule, and perform hygienic cleaning of bathrooms, locker rooms, and common areas, including setup for events.

Requirements include proven maintenance experience and a High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance experience.
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• S-95 Fireguard License a PLUS.

Responsibilities

• Must report to assigned shift on time.
• Must be in appropriate work attire as defined by supervisor.
• Must follow directions and communicate with supervisor to meet daily facility needs.
• Must follow a written schedule of events.
• Must perform hygienic cleaning of bathrooms, locker rooms and designated lunchroom.
• Must maintain the cleanliness of entire facility to the standards of manager on duty.
• Must be able to carry trash to proper disposal site.
• Must be able to work outdoors if needed.
• Must complete setup of tables and chairs and sporting events as needed.
• Must be willing to learn how to operate all mechanical equipment and report irregularities.
• Must maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, staff, visitors and community of the school.
• Must respond to emergencies as directed.
• Must be aware of and assist with all facility emergency procedures and securing the facility.

Maintenance Worker

Days:

Monday - Friday (Evenings and Weekends at times if/when needed)

Hours:

Determined based on availability and the needs of the school

Requirements of Position:

• Proven maintenance experience
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
• Ability to maintain focus while working individually
• S-95 Fireguard License a PLUS

Compensation commensurate upon experience:

Starting rate $20-25 per hour
