Description
Position Overview We are seeking dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to serve as floater nurses across school sites within the district for the '25-'26 school year. This role involves providing essential health services and support by filling in for nurses throughout the district.
Schedule & Work Hours
- Dates: '25-'26 school year
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Hours: Vary by school site (Start times between 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM; End times between 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
Requirements
- Current California LVN License
- Current CPR/BLS Certification

- Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Role Summary The
School LVN plays a vital role in supporting student health and educational success by providing preventive care, health assessments, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate students’ health and developmental status, identifying factors affecting learning.
- Obtain and review health histories for special education candidates, contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Develop Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs) for students with special medical needs.
- Serve on placement committees for special education programs.
- Assist in health curriculum development and act as a resource for teachers.
- Provide counseling to students and families regarding health concerns, attendance, and available medical resources.
- Conduct mandated health screenings and oversee necessary follow-up actions.
- Administer and supervise medication distribution per state regulations.
- Maintain and manage health care supplies and equipment at school sites.
- Provide first aid and emergency care, including accident reporting and follow-ups.
- Collaborate with principals and school staff to ensure student health needs are met.
