Job summary

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable Cook to join our school food service team at Madison School District on-site. You’ll prepare nutritious meals, follow recipes, and help operate daily meal service with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule.

The role emphasizes food safety, teamwork, and dependable service to students, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to menu planning. Benefits include a work-life-friendly schedule and meals provided.

Qualifications

• 1 year food service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, twisting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and convert quantities for large batches.
• Dependability, integrity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality meals by following provided recipes.
• Support daily meal operations by forecasting, preparing special diet items, helping with special events, and stocking/serving menu items during service.
• Maintain food safety and compliance by following HHFKA serving guidelines, completing HACCP logs and production records, and monitoring participation trends.
• Keep the kitchen running smoothly through regular cleaning, organizing storage areas using FIFO practices, and maintaining a safe, healthy work environment.
• Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, team members, school staff, and customers to ensure smooth operations and great service.
• Contribute to team growth by helping train new staff and filling in in other roles when needed.
