Job summary

San Angelo ISD Bel Aire Elementary in San Angelo, Texas is seeking a Library Aide II for the 2026-2027 school year. The role is non-exempt and part of a 10-month employment cycle, reporting to the Principal.

The position starts as soon as possible with a starting date to be determined; the hourly salary ranges from $12.90 to $19.34, with a midpoint of $16.12. Prior library experience and Texas educational aide certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 college hours or equivalent assessment.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Effective verbal and written communication; organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills for spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
• Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading.
• Schedule library classes and equipment use.
• Supply teacher requests for library materials and notify faculty and students of new materials and services.
• Assist patrons in locating and using materials and equipment.
• Assist with orientation, class activities, and reading time.
• Assist users to develop search and retrieval skills to obtain information from databases.
• Operate library automation system and perform startup/shutdown procedures.
• Manage the circulation of all library materials including reports, records, inventory, and weeding procedures.
• Process overdue/fines and damaged materials notices and distribute to teachers.
• Prepare displays, exhibits, and bulletin boards.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the day.
